Bayeux Crepe Dessert
~~Take a very simple French Crepe Recipe and garnish with some easy ingredients for a true French delight!~~
**You will need to allow time for the crepe batter to 'rest' for an hour before making. This recipe also allows for extra crepes to prepare ahead and freeze.
Directions to freeze crepes after cooking: Let crepes cool, then put wax paper between them, and freeze them in freezer bags, taking all the air out. Take them out of the freezer when you want to eat them and let them defrost.
You will need:
Simple French Crepe Recipe (see below)
A 10-inch saute or frying pan (non-stick will make this easier)
Butter or cooking spray (plain or with butter flavor~~not olive oil)
Whipped cream (homemade or store-bought)
Coffee gelato or coffee ice cream
Sugared almond slices
Optional:
Bananas, to be sliced bite-sized
Nutella (or chocolate sauce or any caramel dessert sauce)
Berries (strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries)

Simple French Crepe Recipe: Yield: 12 - 14 crepes
Ingredients:
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Preparation:
You can either:
1. Use a whisk: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth.
OR:
2. Measure all ingredients in to blender; blend for 30 seconds. Scrape down sides. Blend for 15 seconds more.
Cover and let sit for 1 hour. (This helps the flour absorb more of the liquids.)
Directions:
Heat crepe pan. Lightly grease. Measure about 1/4 cup batter into pan. Tilt pan to spread batter.
Once crepe has lots of little bubbles, loosen any edges with spatula. Flip crepe over.
This side cooks quickly. Slide crepe from pan to plate.
Preparing the Bayeux Crepe Dessert:
Use any combination of optional ingredients for your crepe. For example: Spread Nutella on the inside, and add banana slices; or add sliced strawberries and Nutella, etc. You can roll up your crepe like a burrito or leave it open-faced--whatever you prefer.
Add:
A scoop or two of Coffee gelato (or coffee ice cream)
Whipped cream (home-made or store-bought)
Sugared almond slices
Enjoy your decadent French dessert!
